Reading can be fun! Did you know it does more than just entertain you? Through hearing stories, you are exposed to a wide range of words. This helps build your vocabulary! When you're read to, this helps improve your understanding of what you're reading. It's important that you not only understand what you are reading, but that you know HOW a story works and WHY it was written a certain way. Remember PIE? Persuade, Inform, Entertain? Each story has a purpose! When you're reading these next several weeks, take time to think WHY the story was written. Is there a lesson to be learned? Is it informing you about a topic?
